Typer is a game where you battle forthcoming enemies by typing. Every letter is a bullet on the screen, corresponding in position to where the key is on the keyboard. When you type certain words they become shields for a brief moment.
I made typer because I wanted to explore how I could use alternative inputs for action games. Typing came natural as I saw it both as a natural physical-to-digital aiming surface, and allowed for interesting design options. It naturally opened up for both how to interact with the menus, how to design power ups, how to implement secrets, etc. Thereby the main interaction became a driver for the iterative design progress.
